Walking Beside You on Your Journey

Person-centred counselling informed by science and storytelling to support meaningful, lasting change

Alongside you, every step

My name is Barry (he/him), and I believe your story deserves to be heard exactly as it is – without filters, scripts, or expectations.

As a person-centred counsellor with a background in professional filmmaking and neuroscience, I’ve spent my life exploring how human beings think, feel, and share their worlds. I don't offer rigid, clinical checkboxes. Instead, I offer a calm, down-to-earth space where you don’t have to perform, mask, or have anything worked out. Just a real human connection, focused entirely on helping you navigate what's next.

Who I Work With

The Over-Thinkers & Creative Minds

  • Who you might be: A designer, coder, musician, entrepreneur, or anyone whose life relies on generating ideas. Or, you might simply be a deep thinker who tends to over-analyze everything.

  • The challenge: You may feel burnt out, blocked, or disconnected from the spark that used to drive you. Your mind feels like an engine that won't turn off, and you're struggling to make sense of your own story.

  • How we work: We use a down-to-earth, steady approach to quiet the noise, drop the "performance," and help you reconnect with your authentic self.

Those Asking "What’s Next?"

  • Who you might be: Someone navigating a crossroads – whether that’s a career pivot, a relationship shift, a diagnosis, a loss, or a general sense of existential uncertainty.

  • The challenge: You’ve looked around and realized you aren't sure how you got where you are, or where to go next. There is a deep, frustrating uncertainty about how to move forward.

  • How we work: No rigid checklists or forced agendas. We explore your life at your pace, helping you untangle the past so you can find solid ground and decide your next direction.

Neurodivergent & Independent Thinkers

  • Who you might be: Someone who identifies as neurodivergent (ADHD, autism, auDHD), or someone who is naturally a bit suspicious or apprehensive about traditional therapy.

  • The challenge: You want a therapist who is deeply grounded but avoids clinical check boxes. You might be processing trauma, anxiety, or the exhaustion of masking to fit into a world not built for you.

  • How we work: My background in neuroscience means our space is fully open to all types of brains. When helpful, we can bring in light psychoeducation to better understand how your mind ticks – balancing science with an open, understanding space to heal.

Anon, 2026

“Barry’s online therapy sessions were so important for me at a deeply unhappy time. He created a very calming space to let me articulate the issues I was facing and listened intently before offering his take, without ever telling me what to do. Pretty much always he was spot on in his summaries and, over four sessions, he helped me gradually regain control of my turbulent mind and navigate to calmer waters. I would thoroughly recommend speaking to him to see if his person-centred approach would suit you as it did me.”
